Risk Factors for Future Cognitive Decline and Alzheimer's Disease in Older African Americans Lead Investigator: Neha Sinha Institution : Rutgers University E-Mail : nehasinha132@gmail.com Proposal ID : 924 Proposal Description: We are working to resubmit a R01 application to continue our current R56 funding for a longitudinal study of risk factor for Alzheimer???s disease (AD) in low-income, low-education African Americans, ages 65 and older, who are non-demented. Our aim is to identify biomarkers that predict future cognitive decline and progression to aMCI and AD by testing all participants at baseline and every two years thereafter. In order to do power analyses and project data and costs, we are seeking some comparable data from other longitudinal studies from the ADRCs that would help us estimate the likely percentage of our cohort who would be expected to convert, each year to either MCI or AD based on clinical evaluation.
